John Turner
Communications Consultant

ABOUT:

After graduating from Jackson College of Ministries in 2002, John traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia for a year on a missions trip with his parents. He immediately saw a great need in the former Soviet Union and for the next four and a half years worked and lived in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia with the United Pentecostal Church International on the AIM (Associate in Missions) program.

At the end of 2007, John returned to the United States. Not long after he had an opportunity to work closely with the Tim Norris family in Fayetteville, Georgia. Great things were done for low-income Georgia residents in a trailer park there. John and his wife, Tessa, specifically worked with children from that trailer park.

Currently he is a regional director for Accuquest Hearing Centers in Georgia. Several times a year, he visits senior centers, churches, and assisted living centers to provide complimentary hearing screenings and hearing aid servicing. He also works closely with Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation every week helping low-income Georgia residents get tested and fit for hearing aids.

He serves as a minister at Atlanta West Pentecostal church in Lithia Springs, Georgia as the Global Missions Director. Every month reviews reports from all over the world in order to share stories to promote global missions in his local church.

John was aware of Tim Norris’ desire to do some humanitarian work in Haiti after the earthquake in 2010 and introduced Tim to Andrew Roemer, ultimately connecting to Andy and Debbie Roemer, Andrew’s parents, who had recently left Kentucky and moved to Haiti.

John loves the work that is being done through Hope Gate and tries hard to be available whenever he can to be involved in some of the fundraising projects by helping with newsletters and video editing.
